Shutruk-Nahhunte II

Met Merodach-Baladan II at Jadburu and accepted the Chaldean's gifts, but would not participate with him in his war against Sargon II. Nevertheless he managed to stir up the hornet's nest of Assyria by backing Nibe, claimant to the throne of Dalta of Ellipi, against Ishpabara, Nibe's cousin who was himself backed by Assyria. Both Elam and Assyria sent armies to Ellipi to support their candidate but the Assyrians won. Later on, Sargon made in-roads to Elamite territory as a pre-emptive measure against interference from Shutruk-Nahhunte in his conflict with Babylon. He seized the fortified towns of Sam'una, Bab-Duri, and Lahiru, along with others, which prompted the Elamite king to hide in the mountains. He was ultimately deposed by his brother Hallushu.
